PACwillbecomethefuturetheindustrycontrolmodewithcomparesbasedonthePCcontrolsystem,relatedPLC（programmablelogicalcontroller）thesuperiorityandtheinferiorityintenseargumenthasalreadycontinuedfortenyears.BecausePCandPLCaremoreandmoresmallinthetechnicaldifference,andhasusedthecommercializationalongwithPLC（COTS）thehardwareaswellasPCcanusethereal-timeoperatingsystem,thusappearedonekindofnewformcontroller-PAC.ThePACconceptis（ARC）proposesbytheautomationdevelopmentfacility,itexpressedtheprogrammableautomatedcontroller,usedindescribingunifiedPLCandthePCfunctionnewgenerationofindustrycontroller.ThetraditionalPLCmerchantusesPACtheconcepttodescribetheirhighendsystem,butPCcontrolmerchantthenusesfortodescribetheirindustrializationtocontroltheplatform.

"80-20"principle

InPLCin30yearswhichdeveloped,itpassesthroughdevelopsunceasingly,alreadycouldunifysimulatesI/O,thenetworkcorrespondsaswellasusesnewprogrammingstandardlikeIEC61131-3.However,engineersonlymustusedigitalI/OandfewsimulationsI/Onumberaswellassimpleprogrammingskillonpotential80%industrialapplication.ComesfromARC,theunitexploitationcompany（VDC）aswellasonthenetPLCtrainingresourcesPLC.Thenetexpertestimatedthat,

Becauseusestraditionalthetooltobepossibletosolve80%industrialapplication,likethisintenselyneedstohavelowcostsimplePLC;ThuspromotedthelowcostminiaturePLCgrowth,ithastheusefultrapezoidallogicalprogrammingdigitalI/O.However,thishasalsocreatedthediscontinuityinthecontroltechnology,ontheonehand80%applicationneedtousethesimplelowcostcontroller,butontheotherhandother20%applicationthenhavesurpassedthefunctionwhichthetraditioncontrolsystemcanprovide.Engineerisdevelopingthese20%applicationtoneedtohavethehighercirculationspeed,theseniorcontrolalgorithm,themoresimulationsfunctionaswellascanwellandtheenterprisenetworkintegration.

In80andthe90's,thesemustdevelop"20%application"engineershadconsideredusesPCintheindustrycontrol.PCprovidesthesoftwarefunctionmaycarryouttheseniortask,providestherichprogrammingandtheuserenvironment,andthePCCOTSpartenablescontrolengineerthetechnologywhichdevelopsunceasinglytouseinotherapplications.Thesetechnologiesincludingfloatingpointprocessor;HighspeedI/Omainline,likePCIandethernet;Fixeddatamemory;softwaredevelopmentkit.MoreoverPCalsocanprovidetheincomparableflexibility,highlyeffectivesoftwareaswellasseniorlowcosthardware.

However,PCisnotextremelysuitabllyusesincontrollingtheapplication.AlthoughmanyengineersinintegratedseniorfunctiontimeusesPC,thesefunctionsincludingsimulationcontrolandsimulation,connectiondatabase,networkfunctionnfaswellaswiththirdpartyequipmentcorrespondence,butPLCstillwasatthedominantpositioninthecontroldomain.IsstandardPCisnotbutdesignsbasedonthePCcontrolmainquestionforthestrictindustryenvironment.

PCmainlyfacesthreemajorproblems:

Stability:

TheusualPCgeneraloperatingsystemcannotprovideusesincontrollingtheenoughstability.TheinstallmentcanforcetheprocessingsystemcollapsebasedonthePCcontrolequipmentandnotexpecttoagainopens.

Reliability:

BecausePChasthemagneticharddiskandthenon-reliablepartwhichrevolves,likethepowersource,thismakesittobeeasiertoappearthebreakdown.

Notfamiliarprogrammingenvironment:

Thefactoryoperatorneedstohavewhenmaintainsandfixesthebreakdownrestoresthesystemtheability.Theusetrapezoidallogic,theymaymanualforcethecoiltorestoretotheperfectcondition,andcanfastpatchthecodewhichaffectsbyisfastrestoredthesystem.However,thePCsystemneedstheoperatortostudythenewhigherparaffinthetool.

Althoughcertainengineersusehavethefirmhardwareandthespeciallyoperatingsystemspecial-purposeindustrycomputer,butbecauseEngineerPCreliableaspectquestionoverwhelmingmajorityavoidsinthecontrolusingPC.Inaddition,usesineachkindofautomateddutyequipmentinPC,likeI/O,correspondence,ormovementpossibleneeddifferentdevelopmentenvironment.

Thereforethesemustdevelop"20%application"engineerseitherusePLCtobeunablewitheasetorealizethefunctionwhichthesystemneeds,eitherusesbothcontainsPLCandtocontainPCthemixsystem,theyusePLCtocarryoutthecodecontrolsection,realizesthehigherparaffinfunctionwithPC.ThusthepresentmanyfactoriesworkshopsusethesystemwhichPLCandPCunifies,inusesystemPCcarriesonthedatarecord,theconnectionbarcodescanner,insertstheinformationinthedatabaseaswellasissuesthedatatotheneton.Usesthiswayestablishmentsystemthemainquestionisthissystemwithdifficultyconstructsfrequently,fixesthebreakdownandthemaintenance.Systemengineermustunifyfrequentlycomesfrommanymerchantssoftwareandhardwareworktopuzzle,thisisbecausetheseequipmentarenotbutdesignforcanthejointoperation.

Constructsabettercontroller

BecausedoesnothavesuitablePCorthePLCsolution,theseneeddevelopmentcomplexapplicationengineerondevelopsthenewproductwiththecontrolmerchantclosecooperation.TheyneedthenewproducttobeabletounifyPCtheseniorsoftwarefunctionandthePLCreliability.TheseimportantuserswerePLCandhaveprovidedtheproductdevelopmentinstructionbasedonthePCcontrolcompany.

Realizesthesoftwarefunctionnotonlytoneedtohavetheseniorthesoftware,moreoverthecontrollerhardwarefunctionalsoneedstohavetheenhancement.BecauseintheworldscopeisdroppingtothePCpartdemand,thereforemanysemiconductorsmerchantsstartfortheindustrialapplicationredesigntheirproduct.Atpresentcontrolsthedomainthemerchanttostartintheindustrycontrolproducttousetheindustrializationfloatingpointprocessor,DRAM,solidstatememorylikeCompactFlashaswellasthefastEthernetchip.ThisenablesthemerchanttousebasedonthePCcontrolsystemflexibilityandtheusabilitydevelopsamoreformidablesoftware,moreoverthisPCcontrolsystemalsomaymovethereal-timeoperatingsystembytoguaranteethereliability.

Thiskindofnewcontrolleristhesolution"20%"theapplicationquestionbutdesigns,itunifiedPLCandthePCtwomerits.TheARCindustryanalystiscalledthiskindofequipmenttheprogrammableautomatedcontroller,namelyPAC."Theprogrammablelogicalcontrollerworldlooksatingenerally"theresearchinARC,theyhaveproducedthePACfiveprincipalcharacteristics.Thesecontrollercharacteristicsarethroughdefinethesoftwaretheabilitytorealizeitsfunction.
