TheinventionmadeNobelwealthy.HespentthenexttenyearssettingupplantsintheUnitedStatesandEurope.In1876hepatentedblastinggelatin,acombinationofguncottonandnitroglycerin.In1878heandhisbrothersdevelopedoilfieldsinRussia.Heinventedballistitein（导弹）in1888,oneofthefirstsmokelesspowders.
