AftershowingthebondbetweenSudanandhiscaretakers,Hambridgedecidedtotellthestory“inawaythatwasveryhuman,”heexplained.“Iwantedpeopletobeabletoexperiencethejoysandpitfallsofanimalprotectionontheground.

Takingcareofarhino,especiallythelastmalenorthernwhiterhino,isnoeasyjob.InKenya,theroleofarhinocaretakerdoesnotmakemuchmoney.Moreover,thecaretakershadtospend10monthsoutoftheyearawayfromtheirfamilies.AsJames,oneofSudanscaretakers,saidinKifaru,thejobwastakingcareofananimalthatcanneverlookyouintheeyes3ndsay,“Thankyou.”
