billionsocialmediaconversations,culminatinginthe#HeForShrehashtagbecomingsopopularthatTwitterpainteditonthewallsofitsheadquarters.Andmenfromalmosteverycountryintheworldsigneduptoourcommitment.

I’vehadmybreathtakenawaywhenafantoldmethatsincewatchingmyspeechshehasstoppedherselfbeingbeatenupbyherfather.

I’vebeenstunnedbytheamountofmeninmylifethathavecontactedmesincemyspeechtotellmetokeepgoing,andthattheywanttomakesurethattheirdaughterswillstillbealivetoseeaworldwherewomenhaveparityeconomicallyandpolitically.WhileIwouldlovetoclaimthatuh…thiscampaignandtheresultsofitarearesultofmyincrediblespeechwritingskills,Iknowthatitisnot.

Itisbecausethegroundisfertile.Itismybeliefthatthereisagreaterunderstandingthaneverthatwomenneedtobeequalparticipantsinourhomes,inoursocieties,inourgovernmentsandinourworkplaces,andtheyknowthattheworldisbeingheldbackineverywaybecausetheyarenot.

Womensharethisplanet50/50andtheyareunder–underrepresented,theirpotentialastonishinglyuntapped.

”

ThisisthefirstcampaignofitskindattheUN:

wewanttotryandgalvanizeasmanymenandboysaspoibletobeadvocatesforgenderequality.Andwedon’tjustwanttotalkaboutit,butmakesureitistangible。
