Cloningisproducinganexactcopyofaplantorananimalusingitscells.ThefirstmammaltobeclonedsuccessfullyfromanadultcellwasDollythesheep.Shewasbornin1996anddiedinearly2003,atamuchyoungeragethannormal.Whenshewasborn,manypeoplewereworriedthatcloningwouldleadtomorediseasesintheanimalworld.However,ingeneralthescientistswerepraisedfortheirwonderfulscientificadvance.

IanWilnut,theScottishscientistwhocreatedDolly,isshockedthatsomescientistsarenowconsideringcloninghumanbeings.Althoughheresearchescloning,hisintentionhasneverbeentocreatecopiesofhumans.Instead,hethinksresearcheffortsshouldconcentrateoncreatingnewtissuesandorgansthatcanbeusedtocurediseaseslikecancer.However,somepeoplebelievethatcloninghumanembryoswiththeintentionofdestroyingthemshowsnorespectforhumanlife.
