WethankyouforyourletterofAugust16inquiringaboutthepackingandtheshippingmarksofthegoodsunderContractNo.483,andarepleasedtoindicateasthefollowing:

Allthegoodsarewrappedinplasticbagsandpackedincans,thelidsofwhicharesealedwithadhesivetape.Twelvecansarepackedinawoodencases,whichisnailed,andsecuredbyoverallmetalstrapping.

Asregardsshippingmarksoutsidethewoodencase,thewording“MadeinChina”isstenciled,inadditiontogross,netandtareweight.Shouldyouhaveanyspecialpreferenceinthisrespect,pleaseletusknowandweshallbeonlytoogladtomeetyourrequirements.

WewishtoinviteyourattentiontoourorderNo.5781covering500piecesBlueWoolenSerge,forwhichwesenttoyouabout30daysagoanirrevocableL/Cwhichindicatesexpirationdateon31stOctober.

Astheseasonisrapidlyapproaching,ourbuyersarebadlyinneedofthegoods.Weshallbeverymuchobligedifyouwilleffectshipmentassoonaspossible,thusenablingthemtocatchthebriskdemandatthestartoftheseason.

BreakageBreakageisaspecialrisk,forwhichanextrapremiumwillhavetobecharged.Thepresentrateisabout..%.Claimsarepayableonlyforthatpartoftheloss,thatisover5%.

Valuetobeinsuredwenotethatyouwishustoinsureshipmentstoyoufor10%aboveinvoicevalue,whichishavingourdueattention.

Aswenowdesiretohavetheshipmentinsuredatyourend,weshallbemuchpleasedifyouwillkindlyarrangetoinsurethesameonourbehalfagainstAllRisksatinvoicevalueplus10%,i.e.US$2,200.00.

Weshallofcourserefundthepremiumtoyouuponreceiptofyourdebitnoteor,ifyoulike,youmaydrawonusatsightforthesame.

Wesincerelyhopethatourrequestwillmeetyourapproval.

ThisistoacknowledgereceiptofyourletterdatedNov.15,2007,requestingustoeffectinsuranceonthecaptionedshipmentforyouraccount.

WearepleasedtoconfirmhavingcoveredtheaboveshipmentwiththePeoplesInsuranceCo.ofChinaagainstAllRisksforUS$2,200.00.Thepolicyisbeingpreparedaccordinglyandwillbeforwardedtoyoubytheendoftheweektogetherwithourdebitnoteforthepremium.

Foryourinformation,thisparcelwillbeshippedons/s“Jinan”,sailingonoraboutthe11thnextmonth.

InsuranceClaim

WhentheS.S.“Prince”arrivedatSingaporeon16June,itwasnoticedthatonesideofcaseNo.7containingthe“Fish”Typewriterswassplit.Wethereforehadthecaseopenedandthecontentsexaminedbyalocalinsurancesurveyorinthepresenceoftheshippingcompany’sagents.Thecasewasinvoicedascontainingtentypewriters,eightofwhichwerebadlydamaged.

Weenclosethesurveyor’sreportandtheshippingagent’sstatement.Asyouholdtheinsurancepolicyweshouldbegratefulifyouwouldtakethematterupforuswiththeinsurers.

Eightreplacementtypewriterswillberequired.Pleasearrangetosupplytheseandchargetoouraccount.

Wehopenodifficultywillariseinconnectionwiththeinsuranceclaimandthankyouinadvanceforyourtroubleonourbehalf.
