本课教材为外研社《英语》（新标准）（三年级起点）六年级上册Module1Unit1It’smorethantwentythousandkilometreslong.本单元的话题是描述一个景点或城市的特征。
本单元的课文情境是Daming向Simon介绍他带给Simon的中国明信片。
Daming向Simon说明了长城有多长，北京有多大，同时，Simon也告诉Daming纽约有多大。
课文充分展示了两位小朋友对异国文化的好奇心以及求知欲望，同时也增强了各自的祖国意识。
学生通过学习进而能够运用所学语言简单描述一个景点或城市。

学情分析
本模块的学习重点是学会运用Howlongisit?
以及It’smorethan…long.这一结构。
尽管这是学生初次接触谈论物品长度的句型，但是，在之前的学习中学生充分理解和使用了howmany,howmuch,howold等相似的句型，所以学生理解起来并不难，主要是通过这种句型来接触和学习一些新词汇并学会运用，同时，通过学习帮助学生复习和归纳be动词is/are的用法。
相信学生能够通过读和说等活动很好地完成本课的学习任务。
从而，能够在本模块学习结束后用英语详细介绍自己所了解的一座城市的相关特征。

主要是通过谈论美国的城市信息，来带领学生整理和归纳表达城市方位方面的语句，课文简短，易于学生学习和理解。

学情分析
学生在一单元学习基础上，已经掌握了描述一座城市或景点的基本语句，如城市人口等信息。
