Somehavearguedthatsuchrightsaremerelyluxuriesthatwealthysocietiesbestow,butOlsonturnsthatargumentaroundandassertsthatsuchrightsareessentialtocreatingwealth."Incomesarelowinmostofthecountriesoftheworld,inshort,becausethepeopleinthosecountriesdonothavesecureindividualrights,"hesays.
