Now,let'sexploretheRockyMountains,thebiggestmountainrangeinNorthAmerica.Arangeisaroworgroupofmountains.Thesetoweringsnow-cappedmountainsstretch3,000milesfromAlaskaallthewaytoNewMexico.
LookatthemapandyoucanseewhytheRockiesarecalledthe"backbone"ofAmerica.ThemountainsformalinecalledtheContinentalDivide.OnonesideoftheDivide,streamsandriversfloweasttotheAtlanticOcean.Ontheotherside,streamsandriversflowwesttothePacificOcean.

Ifnot,don'tlookforitonamapbecauseyoumaynotfinditthere.AsksomeonewholivesinCaliforniaandtheywilldirectyoutoaclusteroftownswithSpanishnameslikeSantaClaraandSanJose.Theoldtownsarehigh-techtoday.Overone-thirdofeverythingCaliforniasellstoothercountriesisproducedinthislittlevalley.

It'stoobrighttoseemanystarsinthesky,butyoucanseemanystarsinthesidewalk!
ThisistheWalkoffameonHollywoodBoulevard,oneofthemostfamousstreetsintheworld.Look!
There'sastarforTomHanksandanotherforBillCosby.ThisoneisfortheSimpsons!
Thereareover2,000starsonthissidewalk.Moreareaddedeverymonth.
Withitsmanybigcities,includingsanFrancisco,LosAngeles,andsanDiego,Californiahasthemostpeopleofanystate.

Buckeroo和cowpoke。
我知道你听说过牛仔和女牛仔。
这两个单词都是对于在牧场工作的人们的称呼。
牧场主养牛和羊来卖。
养一大群牛或羊需要小山一样多的食物。
幸运的是,这些动物最喜欢的食物是草,而草场覆盖了蒙大拿州、怀俄明州和西部其他州一半的面积。

在全世界的关注之下,二十名雪橇手带领300条应用的雪撬犬接力跑了六个昼夜。
巴尔图到的时候,大家都知道孩子们得救了。
在遥远的纽约有一尊巴尔图的雕像。

在阿拉斯加,有一个比赛不能用车,也没有道路。
这个赛程长达1200英里,需要穿越森林,翻过高山,跨过冰封的河流。
