(书外文章)Televisionwasnotinventedbyanyoneperson.Nordiditspringintobeingovernight.Itdevelopedgradually,overalongperiod,fromtheideasofmanypeople-eachonebuildingontheworkoftheirpredecessors’.Theprocessbeganin1873,whenitwasaccidentallydiscoveredthattheelectricalresistanceoftheelementselenium(硒)variedinproportiontotheintensityofthelightshiningonit.Scientistsquicklyrecognizedthatthisprovidedawayoftransforminglightvariationsintoelectricalsignals.Almostimmediatelyanumberofschemeswereproposedforsendingpicturesbywire(itwas,ofcourse,beforeradio).
