Thisisthefirstteachingperiodofthisunit.Atthebeginningoftheclass,theteachercanleadinthetopicoftheunitbyhavingafreetalkwithstudentsaboutthebackgroundknowledge,talkingaboutMarkTwainandhisplay.
MarkTwainisprobablyoneofthefewAmericanwriterswithwhomstudentsarealreadyfamiliar.TheWarmingUpisintendedtodiscoverjusthowmuchstudentsknowaboutthis19thcenturywriterandletthosewhodon’tknowabouthimknowabouthimbeforetheyreadtheplay.TheteachercanusethisparttointroduceinformationthatChinesestudentsshouldhave.
