Abstract

WiththepopularityoftheInternet,thebasicconditionshavebeencreatedfortheappearanceofChineseandEnglishnetworkcatchwords.Inrecentyears,inordertobemoreconvenient,netizenscreateanewlanguagevariety—networkcatchwords.Theyattractlotsofattentionfromthesociety.Asfornetworkcatchwords,alotofresearcheshavebeendone.Theseresearchesaremainlymadeonthedevelopmentofthenetworkcatchwords,languagefeaturesandtypesofnetworkcatchwords,etc.fromone–sidedresearch.Butonthewhole,fewresearchesaremadeonnetworkcatchwordsfromtheperspectiveofacomparativeanalysis.Comparedwithpreviousstudyofthenetworkcatchwords,thisthesisintroducesthedefinition,thereasonandthedevelopingtendencyofthenetworkcatchwordsfromasimpleaspectfirstly.Inaddition,italsoattemptstomakeacomparativeanalysisofnetworkcatchwordsbetweenChinaandthewesterncountriesfromcategory,characteristicsandculturedifferencesbyobservinglatestnetworkcatchwordsandfindingthesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenthem,sothatthereaderscanhaveadeeperunderstandingofthem.

摘要

网络的普及为中英网络流行语的出现创造了基本条件。

是近几年，为了更方便交流网民创造了一种新的社会方言—网络流行语。

网络流行语引起了社会的关注。

对于网络流行语人们也展开了很多的研究，这些研究主要是从单方面来研究网络流行语的发展、语言特点和类型等。

然而综合来看，很少有从对比分析的角度来分析网络流行语的研究。

对比先前关于网络流行语的研究，本文首先从一个简单的层面分别对网络流行语的定义、流行原因以及发展趋势作了介绍。

除此之外，本文通过观察最新的网络流行语，分别从网络流行语的分类、特点、以及文化差异三个方面对中西方网络流行语进行对比研究。

发现它们的相同点和不同点，以便读者能够对网络流行语有更深的了解。

1Introduction

Computerisanimportantinventionofthe20thcentury,andtheappearanceoftheinternetmakesagreateffectonpeople’sdailylife.Withthedevelopmentofeconomy,computertechnologyandinternettechnologyhavegottenrapidlydevelopmentandmoreandmorepeopleintheworlduseinternetandcomputer.Networkcatchwordsareoneofthemostimportantproductsofinternet.

1.1TheCurrentResearchStatusofNetworkCatchwords

Withtheimprovementofcomputertechnologyandthewideuseofinternet,moreandmorenetworkcatchwordsappearandbecomepopular.Networkcatchwordsareaspecialkindlanguage.Theyarecreatedbynetizensandwidelyusedontheinternet.Andinrecentyears,becauseofthedevelopmentofinternet,networkcatchwordshavegraduallybecomeapartofpeople’sdailylanguage.Duetothisreason,moreandmoreresearchersandscholarspayattentiontothemanddoalotofresearchesonthem.Theyaremainlymadeonthedevelopmentofthenetworkcatchwords,languagefeaturesandtypesofnetworkcatchwordsetc.fromone–sidedresearch.Butonthewhole,fewresearchesaremadeonnetworkcatchwordsfromtheperspectiveofacomparativeanalysis.

1.2ResearchPurposeandResearchSignificant

Basedoncomputerstechnologyandinternettechnology,theinternetisdevelopingatahighlyspeedinallareasandhasgraduallybecomeanimportantpartofmodernlife.Becauseofthesurprisinglyspreadingspeed,convenienceandlargecapacityofinformationstorage,networkcatchwordsattractmoreandmoreattentionsfromscholarsandlinguistics.JustasthelinguistDavidCrystalstatesinhispublishedbookLanguageandtheInternet“IftheInternetisarevolution,therefore,itislikelytobeanewlinguisticrevolution”（Crystal5）.Butonthewhole,manyscholarspaymoreattentiontothedevelopmentofthenetworkcatchwords,languagefeaturesandtypesofnetworkcatchwords,etc.fromone–sidedresearch,andfewresearchesaremadeonnetworkcatchwordsfromtheperspectiveofcomparativeanalysis.Inordertomakeupforthedeficiencyofthecurrentresearchstatusofnetworkcatchwords,thisthesislaysstressonacomparativeanalysisofnetworkcatchwordsbetweenChinaandtheWesternCountries.

Practicallyspeaking,afterreadingthisthesis,whichdotheresearchonnetworkcatchwordsfromtheperspectiveofcomparativeanalysisbetweenChinaandtheWesternCountries,peoplecanhaveadeepanddirectunderstandingofChineseandEnglishnetworkcatchwords.Peoplewouldalsohavethegeneralknowledgeofthecategory,thecharacteristicsandtheculturedifferencesofthesetwokindsofnetworkcatchwords.What’smore,thisresearchnotonlybroadenstheresearchofnetworkcatchwordsfromtheperspectiveofcomparativeanalysis,butalsooffersanewaspecttomademoreresearches.

2LiteratureReview

Thischapteristogiveabriefviewofrelatedresearchesorpreviousstudiesincludingdomesticresearchesandforeignresearches.

2.1NetworkCatchwordsStudyatHome

Inchina,thereisalmostnoresearchmakingonnetworkcatchwordsbefore2001.However,moreandmorenetworkcatchwordshaveappearedandbecomepopularsince2008.Ifyouinput“networkcatchwords”intoCNKI,youwillfindabout252papersnow.Forexample，“打酱油”，“hold住”，“躲猫猫”，“我爸是李刚”，“不管你信不信，反正我信了”etc.Theappearanceandpopularityofthesenetworkcatchwordsnotonlymakesagreateffectonpeople’sdailylife,butalsoofferslotsofresearchmaterial.

Fromsubjectcategoryofthethesis,theresearchesinthisfieldmainlyfocusonlinguistics.Theseresearchesaremainlyonlanguagememestheory,voiceandsemanticsvariation,andlinguisticeconomics,etc.Withtheimprovementofthenetworkcatchwords,thislanguagehasmadedeepandgreateffectonpeople’smodernlife.Accordingly,thesocialsciencesresearchesaboutnetworkcatchwordsalsoextendfromlinguisticstoeducation,communication,psychology,etc.

TheanalysisaboveisaboutthepapersfromCNKI.Thereisalmostnomonographmakingontheresearchofthenetworkcatchwords,butwecanfindsomenetworkcatchwordsresearchcontentfromafewmonographs.Forexample,YuGenyuan,aprofessor,whowroteabook,entitledAnintroductiontonetworkcatchwords.Inthisbook,thedefinition,languagefeaturesandlexicalfeaturesofChinesenetworkcatchwordsweregivenasystematicanalysis.Healsocomparednetworkcatchwordswithlanguagesoftraditionalmedia,suchasnewspapers,TVandradio.Inthelastpartofthebook,heanalyzedpeople’sattitudestonetworkcatchwordsandgavesomesuggestionstoregularChinesenetworkcatchwords.What’smore,professorYualsocompilesadictionarycalledDictionaryofChineseNetworkCatchwords.ItisapioneertocollectsomeChi
