Beforeweknewit,wewereontheroad,road-schoolinginafour-berthcaravan(大篷车).WebeganatWarwickCastle,thenheadednorthintoScotlandandmadeanadventureintocornersofEngland,Wales,andIreland.Insteadofthenormalcurriculum,wedevelopedamoreflexible,pupil-1edmodel,thuslearningaboutsciencehappenednaturally.Ofthegreatestimportanceforusallwasoutdooradventure.Itbuildsbothcharacterandstrongbonds.Aftermorethanayearontheroad,AmyandEllanowseechallengesasanimportantpartoflifeandvaluetheirabilitytopersistwhenthegoinggetstough.
Wesoldourhouseandsacrificedayear’searningstofundouradventures.Thishurtsfinancially,butweareinvestinginourmostpreciouswealth,ourchildren,byspendinglargeamountsofqualitytimewiththem.Itpays.
