LPRandMATLABsoftwareisintroduced
Automaticlicenseplaterecognition(LPR)hasbeenapracticaltechniqueinthepastdecades.Numerousapplications,suchasautomatictollcollection,criminalpursuitandtrafficlawenforcement,havebeenbenefitedfromit.Althoughsomenoveltechniques,forexampleRFID(radiofrequencyidentification),WSN(wirelesssensornetwork),etc.,havebeenproposedforcarIDidentification,LPRonimagedataisstillanindispensabletechniqueincurrentintelligenttransportationsystemsforitsconvenienceandlowcost.LPRisgenerallydividedintothreesteps:
licenseplatedetection,charactersegmentationandcharacterrecognition.ThedetectionsteproughlyclassifiesLPandnon-LPregions,thesegmentationstepseparatesthesymbols/charactersfromeachotherinoneLPsothatonlyaccurateoutlineofeachimageblockofcharactersisleftfortherecognition,andtherecognitionstepfinallyconvertsgreylevelimageblockintocharacters/symbolsbypredefinedrecognitionmodels.AlthoughLPRtechniquehasalongresearchhistory,itisstilldrivenforwardbyvariousarisingdemands,themostfrequentoneofwhichisthevariationofLPstyles,forexample:
(1)Appearancevariationcausedbythechangeofimagecapturingconditions.
(2)Stylevariationfromonenationtoanother.
(3)StylevariationwhenthegovernmentreleasesnewLPformat.
Wesummedthemupintofourfactors,namelyrotationangle,linenumber,charactertypeandformat,aftercomprehensiveanalysesofmulti-styleLPcharacteristicsonrealdata.Generallyspeaking,anychangeoftheabovefourfactorscanresultinthechangeofLPstyleorappearanceandthenaffectthedetection,segmentationorrecognitionalgorithms.IfoneLPhasalargerotationangle,thesegmentationandrecognitionalgorithmsforhorizontalLPmaynotwork.IftherearemorethanonecharacterlinesinoneLP,additionallineseparationalgorithmisneededbeforeasegmentationprocess.Withthevariationofcharactertypeswhenweapplythemethodfromonenationtoanother,theabilitytore-definetherecognitionmodelsisneeded.Whatismore,thechangeofLPstylesrequiresthemethodtoadjustbyitselfsothatthesegmentedandrecognizedcharactercandidatescanmatchbestwithanLPformat.
Severalmethodshavebeenproposedformulti-nationalLPsormultiformatLPsinthepastyearswhilefewofthemcomprehensivelyaddressthestyleadaptationproblemintermsoftheabovementionedfactors.SomeofthemonlyclaimtheabilityofprocessingmultinationalLPsbyredefiningthedetectionandsegmentationrulesorrecognitionmodels.
Inthispaper,weproposeaconfigurableLPRmethodwhichisadaptablefromonestyletoanother,particularlyfromonenationtoanother,bydefiningthefourfactorsasparameters.Userscanconstrainthescopeofaparameterandatthesametimethemethodwilladjustitselfsothattherecognitioncanbefasterandmoreaccurate.SimilartoexistingLPRtechniques,wealsoprovidedetailsofdetection,segmentationandrecognitionalgorithms.ThedifferenceisthatweemphasizeontheconfigurableframeworkforLPRandtheextensibilityoftheproposedmethodformultistyleLPsinsteadoftheperformanceofeachalgorithm.
Inallusiontothedeficiencyofthesinglemodellocation,anewpositioningmethodconcerningthelicenseplate,whichisbasedonmulti-colormodeIs,hasbeenpresentedinthispaper.Firstly,theinputimageofRGBistransformedintoHSVandY1Qcolorspaces,fromwhichcomprehensiveinformationwillbeobtained.Furtherworkcanbedone:
byiIltegratingthisinformation,imagesegmentationwillheabletomoveoutlargenumbersofdisturbingbackgroundmessage,leavingthosesmallerareas(1icenseplateitselfisincluded)whosecolorsaresimilartoit,pavmthewayforlicenseplatelocation-Afterthat,licenseplatecanbecorrectlylocatedthroughthe"two-step-location"method.Inthefirststep,theareatoheresearchedwillhereducedgreatlybythehelpofsectionthinkingwhichmakescoarsepositioningcometrue.Inthesecondstep,theroughlocatedimagescanbedividedintotwosituations:
thoseinwhichthecolorofthetargetareasofalicenseplateisquitcdifferentfromthenon-targetareaandthoseinwhichthecolorofthetargetareaisaliketothenon-target.Inordertolocatetheficenseplateprecisely,themethodofcolorsegmentationandthatofedgedetectionbasedonLogoperatorareadoptedrespectively.
Withthehigh-speeddevelopmentofournationaleconomy.therearemoreandmoreconstructinthedomesticexpressway,urbanroad,andparkingarea,etc.Therequisitiononthetrafficcontrol,safetymanagementimprovesdayandday.Theintelligenttrafficsystem(ITS)hasalreadybecomethemaindirectionofpresenttrafficadministrationdevelopment,andvehiclelicenseplaterecognition(LPR)systemascoreof,playsaveryimportantrole.Itoccupiesimportantroleintheprojectmanagementofexpressway,urbanroadandparkingarea,etc.Itswideapplicationwillcontributetotheprocessofthetrafficmanagementautomationofourcountry.
Beingaspecialcomputervisionsysteminthereal-timecase.theLPRsystemmainlyincludesthesubsystemoflicenseplatedetectionandcharactersegmentationandrecognition.TheLPRsysteminvolvesnumerousdisciplinedomains.suchasPatternRecognitionandArtificialIntelligence,ComputerVision,DigitalImageProcessingetc.ThedetectionoflicenseplatesisthekeyofLPRsystem..Becauseofthecomplexofimagebackground,theuncertaintyofplatepositionandimagequality,thelocationofplatesisnotsatisfied.Therefore,thestudyonthealgorithmoflicenseplatelocationisalwaysthehotspotproblem.
wehavesummarizedthelatestresearchachievementsanddevelopmentoflicenseplatelocationandsegmentation.Thisthesisemphasizeatthemethodofcastshadowandthefiltermethodofcolor.Severalcharacteristicofframehelpthecorrectingoftheplatetiltingtooneside.ItsnumbercharacteriSusedtoprecisethepartitionofcharacterlistdistrict.TheexperimentalresultsshowthatthisalgorithmiSefncientinlocatingthelicenseswhilenotsensitivetounconstrainedilluminationconditionsandirregularbackground.Otherwisewedoresearchforcharactersegmentation.
AstheworldMatlabmostwidelyappliedmathematicssoftwarehasverystrongnumericalcalculationandanalysisofdataprocessing,systemanalysis,thegraphicdisplayevensymbolsoffunctionandthecomputationofrichtoolbox.
