TheAncientGreekphilosopherPythagorasisbestknowntodayforhis

humanswouldhaveeatenapredominantlyplant-baseddiet;afterall,plantscan

ourdigestivesystemsresemblethoseofherbivorescloserthan

carnivorousanimals.Prehistoricmanatemeat,ofcourse,butplantsformedthebasisofhisdiet.

Pythagorasandhismanyfollowerspracticedvegetarianismforseveralreasons,mainlyduetoreligiousandethicalobjections.Pythagorasbelievedalllivingbeings
