1.MarkJohnsondefinesanimageschemaasarecurring,dynamicpatternofourperceptualinteractionsandmotorprogramsthatgivescoherenceandstructuretoourexperience.Imageschematicstructureshavetwocharacteristics:

theyarepre-conceptualschematicstructuresemergingfromourbodilyexperienceandtheyareconstantlyoperatinginourperceptualinteraction.Itexistsatalevelofabstraction,operatesatalevelofmentalorganizationbetweenpropositionalstructuresandconcreteimage,anditcanbesubdividedintothefollowingitems:

Blendingoperatesontwoinputmentalspaces(输入空间)toproduceathirdspace,theblend.Theblendinheritspartialstructurefromtheinputspacesandhasemergentstructure(层创结构)ofitsown.TherearesomeconditionsneededwhentwoinputspacesI1andI2areblended:
