Understandably,thatmakesalotofparentsnervous.Butagapyeardoesnotmeanthatastudentwillremaindegree-lessforever.Whiletherearenoformalstudiesonthenumberofstudentswhodon’tfinallygotocollegeafterthegapyear,evidencefromadmissionsofficersacrossthecountrysaysveryfewactuallyleavecollegewithoutfinishingtheircourses.Takingagapyearcanactuallymakekidsmorefocusedandreadyforfutureacademiclife.Infact,HarvardUniversitybelievessomuchinthegapyearthatitencourageseverystudentitadmitstoconsiderayearoffbeforematriculation(入学).

Thereasonbehindhighereducation’ssupportofthegapyearisclear:
