Thisthree-dayget-togetherfeaturedstory-telling,hiking,campingandcanoeing,allpartofalargerlessonaboutconservationprojectsthatcanbeusedonboththeYangtzeandMississippi.

AfterthegroupmetattheCraneFoundationpreserve,theyheadedsouthtocanoeastretchoftheKickapooRiverthatwindsitswaythroughsouthwesternWisconsinbeforejoiningtheMississippi.TheypaddledalongastretchoftheKickapooRiver,wherea20-yearpreservationventurestoppedencroachmentbydevelopersandprotectedthenaturalsettingofthewaterway.

ThestudentsontheRiverSpiritExchangeendedtheirfirstnightwithsingingandstoriesaroundthecampfire.Organizerssaythesuccessandspiritofthisfirstgatheringofstudentswillleadtoothertrips,includingonedowntheYangtze.
