EWGhascreatedthe2018Shopper'sGuidetoPesticidesinProduce,whichhelpsshopperstofinduncontaminatedproduce.Manyconsumersdonotrealizethatpesticideresidues(残留)areverycommononconventionallygrownproduceproducts,evenaftertheyhavebeenwashedorpeeled.Becauseofthis,EWGhascreatedtheirseriesofguidestoleadconsumerstosaferfoodchoices.

Inordertocreatetheseguides,EWGanalyzedtheUSDApesticidestests,whichfoundatotalof230differentpesticidesandpesticidesbreakdownproductsonthousandsofproducesamples.Analyzingthisinformation,EWGobservedthebigdifferencesoftheamountofpesticidesfoundfromproducttoproduct.

Theguide'stwomaincomponentsaretwocompiledlistshighlightingthecleanestanddirtiestproduceconcerningpesticides.Thesetwolists,DirtyDozenandCleanFifteen,showconsumershowcertainfoodscontinuetocarrytraceamountsofpesticideswiththemallthewaytothegrocerystoreshelves,whileothersmakeittoyourkitchenvirtuallypesticide-free.
