Abstract:
Atpresent,withaseriousenergycrisis,theenergyconsumptionofresidentialbuildingisrisingdramatically,anditisessentialforustodevelopenergy-savingbuilding.Multi-ribbedcompositewallstructure(MRCWS)isanewtypeofstructurewhichadaptstothepoliciesofwallreformandenergy-savingbuilding.Itenergy-conserving,environment-protecting,seism-resistingandcost-savingwhichfitinwiththesustainabledevelopmentofrealestateindustry.
Inthispaper,theconstitutionofMRCWSisintroduced,andthecharacteristicsarediscussedwhichindicatethatMRCESisanew&environmentalstructure.InordertoshowtheadvantagesofMRCWS,comparisonsaremadewithtraditionalstructures,constructiontechniquesandapplicablerangearepresented,andtheeconomicbenefitofMRCWSisanalyzedindetailfromtheviewofproductioncostandprojectschedule,withapracticalprojectgivenasanexampletoshowthelowcostofMRCWS.Atlast,thesupportsandawardsofMRCWSarelistedandthegeneral-developthatMRCWSwillandenergycrisis,whicharebecomingmoreandmoreserious,thecrucialproblemsrestrictingthenationaleconomyandsustainabledevelopmentinChina(Tian2005).
China,agreatenergy-consumingcountry,eatsup300milliontonsofpetroleumand1.8billiontonsofrawcoaleachyear,amongwhichtheenergyconsumptionofresidentialbuildingoccupies25%一27%.Bynow,thereareabout43billionsquare-meterbuildingsinchina,but98%ofthemareof,andinthe1.6-2billionsquare-meterbuildingsnewlybuilteachyear,morethan95%ofthemareChina.Luckily,theChinesegovernment.
Adaptingtothenationalpoliciesofwallreformandenergy-savingbuilding,Multi-ribbedcompositewallstructure(MRCWS)wasdevelopedbyXi’anUniversityofArchitecture&TechnologyandBeijingJiaotongUniversity.Itshowsgreatadvantagesinenergy-conserving,environment-protecting,seism-resistingandsoonwhichfitinwiththesustainabledevelopment.MRCWSiscomposedofpre-castmulti-ribbedcompositewallboard(MRCW),cast-in-placeconcealedouterframeandfloor.MRCW,anewkindofpre-castboardcomponent,iscomposedoflow-ratio-of-reinforcementRCframegridsfilledwithporouslightweightblockswhicharemadeofindustrialwaste,anditisthemainbearingcomponentinMRCWS.Concealedouterframe,composedofendframecolumn,connectingcolumnandconcealedbeam,isusedtoconfineandtobearloadstogetherwithMRCW(Yao2003).TheconstitutionofMRCWSisshowninFig.1

2.CHRACTERISTICSOFMRCWS
Realestateindustryisabasicanddominantindustryinthenationaleconomy,anditssustainabledevelopmentthatofthewholesociety.Inordertodevelopsustainably,therealestateindustryneedsnotonlytosatisfythedemandsofus,butalsotoprotectthelandandenvironmentforourdescendants.
Asanew
Accordingtothegovernment’s1lthFive-YearPlan(),energyconsumptionforeveryyuan(1,298U.S.dollars)ofgrossdomesticproductshouldbereducedby20percentbytheendofthatperiod.Meanwhile,thedischargeofsulfurdioxideandchemicaloxygendemandshoulddropby10percent.Toachievethisenergysavingandemissionreductiontargets,agoodeffortshouldbemadebyrealestateindustry.
Comparedwithtraditionalstructures.MRCWSwiththeuseofporouslight-weightblocks.Meanwhile,anewtechniqueconnectinglocal-withwhole-isapplied,soitwillbemucheasiertosatisfythenationaldemandofreducingenergyconsumptionby65%before2010andwilldomuchgoodtothedevelopmenttotheresidentialenergyconservation.
2.2EnvironmentProtection
Chinaofnearly1.3billion,whilethecultivatedlandareaisonly95million40%oftheaveragelevelintheworld.However,withanannualbrickoutputofmorethan600billionpieces,morethan1.0billioncubicmetersofclayisconsumed,whichmeansmorethanMucultivatedlandisdestoriedandabout70milliontonsofcoalisconsumed.Facingseriouslydeterioratedenvironment,itisrequiredinthe10thfive-yearwallreformplanthatsolidclaybrickshouldbeforbiddenin170citiesbytheendofJune30,2003,andinallthecitiesbytheendof2010.
Gettingridofclaybricksandrecyclingagreatdealofindustrialwaste,MRCWScansavelargeamountsoflandandkeeptheenvironmentalmorebalanced.Statisticsindicate
thatabout8,000square-meterlandwouldbeprotectedand2,000~3,000cubic-meterindustrialwastebereusedforbuildinganareaofl0.000square-meterdramaticallyreducetheseismicload.Whatismore,astheblockscrackandcloseoverandoveragain,alargeamountofseismicenergyisdissipated,justasadamperdoes.ResearchesandexperimentsshowthatMRCESexcellentsafetyanddurability,anditisessentialforthesustainabledevelopmentofrealestateindustry.
Inaword,thedevelopmentofMRCWSshowsalotof&environmentalstructurewhichsatisfiesthedemandsofsustainabledevelopment;anditrevealstheChineseconceptionof“takingmanasthefoundation”asitcankeepthestructuremuchsafer.
3.PROSPECTIVEANALYSIS
Generallyspeaking,asahigh-tech-project,itshouldfunction,technologyetc.(Fu2003)However,thecostmustbereasonable,oritwouldbetooexpensivetobeacceptedbytheusers,andthatwouldmakeitno-market-competition.InordertoshowtheprospectofMRCWS,comparisonsaregoingtomadewithtraditionalstructuresbelow.
3.1ComparisonswithTraditionalStructures
Accordingtotheworldindex,noothersimilarresearchesandprojectswerefound,andMRCWSwasevaluatedasakindoforiginalandadvancedstructure.Experimentsandprojectsmakeitclearthat:

Formasonry-concretestructure(MCS),althoughitisisexcessivelycomplicated,andthetechnologylevelisextremelylow.Whatisworse,alotofpreciousresourcesmaybedestroyed(claymustbeusedinMCS),andalargenumberoffielsmaybedamaged.
Hollow-blocks-andconcretestructure(HBCS)canbeappliedtotakeplaceofclay-bricksstructure,butmostoftheworkFSareso-aestheticanduncomfortable.Inordertosolvethisproblem,anewkindofframestructurewithspecially-shapedcolumnsinthewall(shortforSCFS)wasdeveloped.Neverthelessthebehaviorofthiscolumnisverycomplicatedanditreducesthecapabilityofthestructure,sotheapplicationofthisstructureisnarrowed,especiallyintheseismicarea.
Thoughshearwallwallstructure(SWS)cannotbefreelydesignedasFS,itissuitableforbuildingswithshortspan.AndthestiffnessofSWSismuchmorestrengthendthanFS,whichdecreasesthedisplacementgreatly,sothesomeproblemsthatSWScostsmuchmoreanditisnotgoodatandsoundisolation.
Short-piershearwallstructure(SPSWS)isatypeofimprovedshearwallstructurewhichismuchflexibleinlayout,anditisparticularlyapplicabletomid-contrastwithshearwallstructure,thedisplacementperformanceisimprovednotably;andincontrarytomasonry-concretestructure,thebearingcapacityofMRCWSis1.6~1.8timestwicelarger.
Differentlyfromthestructuresabove,MRCWSislightly-weighedanditFSandSWS.Furthermore,thestiffnessofMRCWScanbeadjustedinacertaindegreetoachieveanoptimumeffect。
Datainthetablealsoshowthatthethatof610mm-thicknesssolidbrickwall(SBW),anditisclosetothevalue490mm-thicknessChina.
Inconclusion,thisnewkindofwallboardreplacestraditionalclay-brickwalls;thisnewkindofstructureupgradesthesafety,applicability,durabilityandreliabilityofthebuilding;andthisnewkindofenergy-savingtechniquesimprovestheeasinessofthepromotethedevelopmentofthewholeindustry.However,MRCWSTechniques
Asapromisingstructure,theconstructiontechniquesshouldalsobeadvancedandconvenient,andthequalitycontrolmustbeensuredinthewholeprocess.InMRCWS,MRCWispre-castandtheconstructionofstructureadoptsassembledtechniques,whichmakesitmoreconvenienttouseaseriesofmechanism.SotheconstructionprocessofMRCWSincludestwoimportantsteps:
theproductionofMRCWandtheassemblyofMRCWS.
MRCWbeingprecastwhetherinthefactoryorinsite,itisconvenienttobemanufacturedinbatchesandlargequantities.IntheproductionprocessofMRCW,apatentawarded,andageneralqualitycontrolsystemestablished,includingthefactorsofMan,Material,Machine,MethodEnvironrnent.Furthermore,technicalspecificationauthorizedandenterprisestandardcompiled.Alloftheseacceleratetheproductionandcontrolthequalityeffectively.
