In1404ad（thesecondyearofYongleinMingDynasty）,the“Mutianyupass”wasbuilt.（seepage1532466,Volume153,frontierbarrier,astudyofthepastandthefuture）.

In1569（thethirdyearofLongqing）,QiJiguang,afamousgeneralofemperorMuZongoftheMingDynasty,speciallyappointedtofightagainstJapaneseinvaders,ledthearmytorenovatethetwothousandliGreatWall,includingtheMutianyusection.Asof2013,theGreatWallpreservedinMutianyuisoneofthebestpreservedsitesofthegreatwalloftheMingDynasty.

MutianyuGreatWallismostlybuiltonthesteepsideofthecliff.Itisclosetothemountaintocontrolthedisaster.Thewallis78metershighandthetopofthewallis45meterswide.Themainbuildingmaterialisgranite,whichismajesticandsolid.Onbothsidesofthetopofthewallarebuiltlowwallcrenels,whichcanresisttheenemyonbothsides.Ontheoutside,therearehorseblockingpits,whichmakethedefensefunctionmoreperfect.Onbothsidesofthetopofthewallarecrenelsabout5feetlong,morethan1footthickandmorethan2feethigh.Bothsidesofthedoorareraisedalongtheridgeandturnoverwiththemountain.Thecrenelsintheseareasarenotrectangular,butserrated.Theshootingholeisbuiltbelowthecrenel.Itisnotaroundhole,butasquareholewithanarcatthetop.
