ApplicationandDevelopmentofSimulationTechnologyinManufacturing

Abstract

Simulationisanecessaryaidforproductdevelopmentandmanufacture.Itcangreatlyreducelosses,savecosts,shortenproductdevelopmentcyclesandimproveproductquality.Since1970s,AdvancedManufacturingTechnology(AMT)hasbeenstudiedandappliedbyinstitutesandenterprisesallovertheworldasastrategytoadapttoglobalcompetitionofmanufacture.ApplicationanddevelopmentofAMTpromotestheresearchandapplicationofsimulationtechnologyinmanufacturing.Fromtheviewpointofevolution,theapplicationfieldsofsimulationtechnologyinmanufacturingareobviouslyenlarged.Additiontoconventionalfieldsofmanufacture(includingproductionplanning,machining,assemblingandtesting),simulationtoolsaredevelopedinthefieldsofproductdesignanddevelopment,supplychain,etc.Andthemostnotablethreetrendsofsimulationapplicationinmanufacturingare:

1.Distributed,duetonetworktechnology;2.Interactive,duetotechnologyofgraphicsandsensory-motor;3.Integrated,suchasVM,VPD,VFT,etc.Accordingtodifferentobjectstobesimulated,simulationinmanufacturingcanbeclassifiedas:

1.Product-oriented2.Production-management-oriented;3.Process-and-device-oriented;4.Other.Thispaperwilldescribesimulationinmanufacturingfromaboveaspects.AndVirtualReality(VR)andVirtualManufacturing(VM)areintroducedinthelastsectionasprospectofsimulationinmanufacturing.

Themanufacturingindustry(includingthemachinerycategorysuchasmanufacturing,electronicsmanufacturing,nonmetalproductsmanufacturing,ready-madeclothesmanufacturingaswellasvariousmouldmaterialmanufacturingetc)isthepillarindustryofnationaleconomy,andhistotaloutputvaluegenerallyoccupiesthe20%~55%ofinternaltotaloutputvalueofeachcountry.Theenterpriseproductiveforcesineachcountryareinforming,andtheeffectofmanufacturetechniquegenerallyoccupiesabout60%.Sosomeexpertsthink,thecompetitionofeachnationeconomyontheworldchieflyisthecompetitionofmanufacturetechnique.Thiskindofcompetitionisintensewitheachpassingday,andeachcountrygovernmentallattachesimportancetoresearchtothemanufacturingindustryverymuchtotheconstantlychangeofdevelopmentaswellasrequirementofcustomer'satahighspeedalongwiththeeconomytechnologyandmarketenvironment.Theadvancedmanufacturetechnique(AMT:

themanufacturingintegrationtechnologythatinordertoimprovewithT's(developingperiod),Q's(productquality),C's(developmentcost),S's(after-saleservice)andE(pollutionoftheenvironmentlevel)givefirstplacetotoweightheproductofquotaandproductdevelopmentcourse,theUnitedStateshasputforwardincludingsystemoveralltechnology,managementtechnologyinthe80'sendsanddesign,manufacturetechnologyandequipmenttechnologyandbigtechnologycrowdofsupporttechnologyfiveAdvancedManufacturingTechnology)thegenerallythought.

Asaresultofthedevelopmentoftenremainingyears,nowthecontentoffivebigtechnologycrowdsisarrivedrichlygreatly,hisconcretemeaningasfollows[12]:

Thegeneralsituation

Thecomputertechniqueofsimulationisasanewanddevelopinghightechnology,andhismethodologyisbuiltabovethefoundationofcomputerability.

Alongwiththedevelopmentofcomputertechnology,thetechniqueofsimulationalsogetstherapiddevelopment,andhisapplicationdomainandhiseffectisalsomoreandmorebigger.

Particularlyinaviation,aerospaceandinnationaldefenseandtheresearchanddevelopmentcourseofotherlarge-scalecomplexsystems,computersimulationiscontinuouslythetoolthatcannotlack,andhasgivenplaytohugelytoactonaspectitisreducinglosses,practicesthriftthefundsandshortensdevelopmentperiodandraisetheproductqualityetc

Designingtomakingsothatintestingwholelifeperiodsafeguardedfromtheproduct,thecomputertechniqueofsimulationrunsthroughfrombeginningtoend(theshadowpartinthepicture1representstheapplicationoftechniqueofsimulation,andconcludesfurthertothetable1).
