也许这是一本不合时宜的书。

当整个世界都在谈论着“变化”、“创新”等等时髦的概念时，重提“忠诚”、“敬业”、“服从”、“信用”之类的话题未免过于陈旧。

然而，我们却又无法回避。

员工的忠诚、敬业、道德风险无时无刻不在困扰着企业的管理者们，我们所面临的变化也带走许多有价值的东西，包括那些经济起飞所依赖的基本的商业精神———信用、勤奋和敬业。

我们常常看到，许多年轻人以频繁跳槽为能事，以善于投机取巧为荣耀。

老板一转身就懈怠下来，没有监督就没有工作。

工作时推诿塞责、划地自封、不思自省，却以种种借口来遮掩自己缺乏责任心。

只有才华，没有责任心，缺乏敬业精神，我们是否真的能顺利前行？

我曾遇见一个受过良好教育、才华横溢的年轻人，在公司里却长期得不到提升。

他缺乏独立创业的勇气，也不愿意自我反省，养成了一种嘲弄、吹毛求疵、抱怨的恶习；他根本无法独立自发地做任何事，只有在一种被迫和监督的情况下才能工作。

在他看来，敬业是老板对员工的手段，忠诚是管理者愚弄下属的工具。

他在精神上与公司格格不入，使他无法真正从那里受益。

我对他的劝告是，有所施才有所获。

如果决定继续工作，就应该衷心地给予公司老板以同情和忠诚，并引以为豪。

如果你无法不中伤、非难和轻视你的老板和公司，就放弃这个职位，从旁观者的角度审视自己的心灵。

只要你依然是某一机构的一部分，就不要诽谤它，不要伤害它———轻视自己所就职机构就等于轻视你自己。

到哪里能找到将信送给加西亚的人？

管理者们常常发出这样的感叹。

一些评论家认为，《致加西亚的信》是一本站在管理者角度写的书，有失偏颇，甚至对员工是不公正的。

而在我看来，忠诚和敬业并不仅仅有益于公司和老板，最大的受益者是我们自己，是整个社会。

《致加西亚的信》曾经由一位效力于布什家族的著名律师推荐给老布什总统。

当时老布什正在德克萨斯州竞选，所以没有兴趣读。
