“Mostcancershavemultiplecauses,”shesays,butshepointstolaboratoryresearchthatsuggestslow-energyradiationcoulddamagecellsthatcouldpossiblyleadtocancer.

The“H”and“N”inthevirus’namereferstotwokindsofproteinsonthesurfaceofthevirus.Anychangeofthenumbersofthetwoproteinsindicatesanewmutation（变异）.Mostofthemutationsonlyaffectbirds,suchaschickensandpigeons,anddon’tnormallyspreadtohumans.Butoncetheydo,theresultscanbedisastrous.
