第一组:
over,above和on的用法
1)over指在…的正上方,表示垂直在上。
如:

2)above指在上方,属于斜上方。

3)on指在上面,表示两物体接触。

under/below的用法:
1)under在……下面/正下方:

in/on/to表示“接壤”

arriveat意为“到达”。
如:
Wearrivedattheairportatfouro'clock.我们四点到达机场。
常见的表示“到达”的动词有arrive,get和reach,它们之间区别如下:
(1)arrive是不及物动词,属于较正式的用语,后常接介词at或in,一般来说,in后接大地方(如国家、城市、地区等),at后接小地方(如车站、影院等具体地点),若是地点副词,则不需要用介词。
如:
DoyouknowwhattimetheplanearrivesinMoscow?
你知道飞机什么时候抵达莫斯科?
Theyarrivedatthestationateighto'clockthismorning.他们今天早晨八点到达车站。
Shearrivedhomelateyesterday.她昨天很晚到家。
(2)reach是及物动词,直接接宾语,无需介词,和arrive-样,属于较正式的用语。
如:
TheyreachedBeijingon17February.他们于二月十七日到达北京。
(3)get和arrive-样,也是不及物动词,但它多用于口语,其后接的介词是to,如果后面接副词,则不用介词to。
如:

Thevisitorsgottherelastnight.参观的人昨晚到了那里。
从上面的句子可以看出,这几个词的区别不大,区别主要在于及物动词、不及物动词以及介词的使用。
如:
MrGreenarrivedin/gotto/reachedWuhanlastnight.格林先生昨晚抵达武汉。
2You'rewelcometostay,butI'msorrythatwedon'tallowpetshere.我们欢迎您人住,但我很抱歉我们这里不允许宠物进入。
本句中welcome是形容词,意为“受到欢迎的”。
又如:
Youarewelcomeinmyhome.欢迎你来我家。
Iamsorrythat…后可跟陈述句来表达“本人对……感到抱歉”之意。
如:
IamsorrythatIbrokeyourmodelcarjustnow.对不起,我刚刚弄坏了你的车模。
3I'mblindandIcan'tgoanywherebymyself.我看不见,我一个人哪里都去不了。
byoneself意为“独自;单独”,相当于alone的意思。
如:
Theoldmanlivesallbyhimselfinthatbighouse.那个老汉独自住在那座大房子里。
4ThereceptionistapologizedandledJohnandCharlietotheirroom.接待员(向他)道了歉,并把约翰和查利带到了他们的房间。
lead(sb.)to意为“带着(某人)到……”。
如:
Sheledthehorsebacktothestable.她把那匹马牵回了马厩。
leadto还可以表示“通向……”的意思。
如:
Theroadleadstothesea.那条路通向大海。
此外,leadto还有“导致”的意思。
如:
Hiscarelessnessledtothisserioustrafficaccident.他的粗心导致了这场重大交通事故。
5Hesoonfellasleep.他不久就睡着了。
fallasleep意为“入睡”,强调“睡着”。
如:
Jasonlaydowninbedandfellasleepalmostimmediately.贾森躺在床上,几乎立刻就睡着了。
sleep,be/fallasleep,gotosleep和gotobed都和“睡”有关,但侧重点有所不同。
现比较如下:
(1)sleep强调“睡觉”这一动作,是延续性动词,可与表示时间的状语连用。
如:
Hesleptforeighthours.他睡了八个小时。
(2)beasleep表示“睡着”的状态,是系表结构,其中asleep不能用very修饰,只能月sound、fast等词修饰。
如:
Thebabyisfast/soundasleep.婴儿睡得很香。
(3)fallasleep意指“睡着”,表示一个动作的过程,侧重于“自然而然地入睡、不想入睡而入睡”的含义。
如:
Hewasjustfallingasleepwhentherewasaloudknockatthedoor.他刚睡着,就有人使劲
敲门。
Idon'tknowwhenIfellasleeplastnight.我不知道昨晚什么时候睡着的。
(4)gotosleep指“入睡,进入梦乡”这个动作,即begintosleep。
如:
Hewassotiredthathewenttosleepsoon.他很累,不久就睡着了。
(5)gotobed意为“就寝,上床睡觉”,着重指上床准备睡觉的动作,无“睡着”之意。
一般说来,是gotobed在前,然后才是gotosleep或fallasleep。
如:
Heusuallygoestobedatteno'clockandgoestosleep/fallsasleepfiveminuteslater.他通
常十点就寝,五分钟后入睡。
6Sometimelater,Charliestartedbarking.道了一会儿,查利叫了起来。
sometimelater意为“过了一会儿;一些时间之后”。
这里的later是副词,它的前面常常可以加上一段时间,表示“……(时间)之后;过了……(时间)”。
如:
Eightyearslater,thelittleboybecameanexcellentuniversitystudent.八年之后,这个小男孩成为了一名出色的大学生。
sometime,sometime,sometimes和sometimes是四个十分容易混淆的词条。
现简单比较如下:
(1)sometime为副词,意为“某个时候”。
可指过去或将来的某个时候。
如:
Thishousewasbuiltsometimearound1980.这幢房子是1980年左右建造的。

We’IItakeourholidaysometimeinAugust.我们会在八月找个时间度假。
(将来)
(2)sometimes为副词,意为“有时候”,表示事情发生的频度。
如:

(3)sometime意为“一段时间”。
如:
WeplantostayinHainanforsometime.我们打算在海南待上一段时间。
(4)sometimes意为“几次;几倍”。

Iamsurewehavemetsometimesbefore.我肯定我们之前见过几次面。
Yourroomissometimesbiggerthanmine.你的房间比我的大好几倍。
7Smokestartedtocomeinfromunderthedoor.烟雾开始从门缝进入房间里。
fromunderthedoor意为“从门的下面”。
通常情况下,介词后直接跟名词(如underthedoor),但介词from后有时可以跟另一个介词短语,以表达准确的来源。
如:
Lisajustshowedupfromoutofnowhere.丽萨突然不知从哪个地方冒出来了。
8WithCharlie'shelp,Johnputsomewettowelsalongthebottomofthedoor.在查利的帮助下,约翰把几块湿毛巾铺在了门缝处。
withone'shelp意为“在某人的帮助下”。
如:
Withtheirhelp,weopenedasmallbookshop.在他们的帮助下,我们开了一家小书店。
我们也常常用withthehelpof…来表示“在……的帮助下”。

在本句中,along作介词,意为“沿着”。
