【辨析】when与whattime
when
意为“什么时候”，可对年、月、日及时刻进行提问或者询问某一动作发生的时间

下几点：
在美式英语中，记载方法是按月、日、年的顺序，“日”与“年”中间要用逗号隔
开，书写时“日”可以写成序数词形式，也可直接写成阿拉伯数字形式，但读时一定读作序
数词。

1、when引导的特殊疑问句
1.when为疑问副词，常用来询问时间，意为“什么时候”。
Whenissb.’sbirthday?
是用来询
问某人生日是何时的常用句型，意为“……的生日是什么时候？
”其答语为：
Sb.’s
birthday/It’s+日期，这里sb.’s要用形容词性物主代词或名词所有格。

她的生日是什么时候？
—HerbirthdayisonAugust9th.她的生日是8月9日。
2.名词所有格表示“某人的”，通常是“名词+’s”。
2、序数词
1.概念：
表示事物的顺序的数词叫做序数词，它的作用相当于名词或形容词。
2.构成：
（1）变异类：
one→first第一；two→second第二；three→third第三。
（2）普通类：
第四至第十九均在相应的基数词后加-th,但第五（fifth）和第十二（twelfth）
均把基数词five和twelve词尾的ve改为f,再加-th。
基数词eight的序数词，直接在后加-h,
即eighth。
基数词nine的序数词，将词尾的e去掉，再加-th,即ninth。
（3）“ty类”：
即以“ty”结尾的整十的序数词是把对应基数词的最后一个字母y变成i,
再加-eth。
如：
twenty→twentieth；forty→fortieth
（4）几十几类：
表示“几十几”的基数词变序数词时，只将个位变成序数词，十位数不变。
如：
twenty-three→twenty-third
【注意】序数词的前面往往加定冠词the,但当序数词前有物主代词、指示代词等修饰时，则
不必加the。
3、时间介词on,in与at辨析
1.on常用在表示星期几或具体某一日及某一日的上午、下午或晚上的名词前。
如：
onMay4th在五月四日
2.in常用在年、月、季节、世纪及表示泛指上午、下午或晚上的名词前。
如：
inMarch在三月；inthemorning在早上
3.at常用在表示某一具体时刻的名词前。
如：
atten在十点；atnoon在正午
