”You’veprobablyheardthatmanytimes,andit’strue.Milkcontainscalcium(Ca),whichisanecessarynutrient(营养)forkeepingbonesandteethhealthyandstrong.TheU.S.governmentevenrequiresmilkaspartoftheNationalSchoolLunchProgram,sayingthatstudentsshoulddrinkonecupoffat-freeorlow-fatmilkateachmeal.

LastThursday,however,agroupofdoctorsaskedthegovernmenttotakemilkoutofthelunchprogram.ThePhysiciansCommitteeforResponsibleMedicine(PCRM)says,“Milkishighinsugar,highinfatandhighinanimalprotein,allofwhichhaveunhealthyeffectsonhealth.”“Oneoftheonlyreasonspeopleprefermilkis that itisgoingtohelpbuildstrongbones,”saysDr.NealBarnard,presidentofthePCRM.Therearebetterandhealthierwaystogetcalciumsuchaseatingbeans,broccoli,cerealsandtofu.Orangejuiceandsoymilkthathavecalciumaddedtothemalsoprovidethenutrient.

Ofcourse,calciumisimportantforhealthybonesandteeth,butyourgenes,howmuchvitaminyoutakeinandgettinganhour’sworthofexerciseeverydayallplayapart.
