TheGeneralIdeaofThisPeriod

Thisperiodisthehighlightofthewholeunit.Itlaysemphasisonreadingandunderstanding.

Firsttheteachershouldcheckifthestudentshavemasteredthenewwordsandexpressionsbyaskingthemtofillintheblanksofsomesentencesbyusingsomeofthewordsandphrasesthatwillappearinthereadingpassage.Thispartcanhelpthestudentstolearnwordsandexpressionsbyheartinacertainlanguagesituation.

TheninPre-readingpart,thestudentsareaskedtodistinguishthedifferencesbetweentheUK,GreatBritainandEngland.Hence,theteachercanleadtothetopicofthehistoricalinfluenceongeographyinthecountry.Providedwithtwosimplequestions:

“DidthecountriesoftheUKunitepeacefullyorbywar?

WhereshouldwegoifwewanttoappreciatesomehistoricalattractionsoftheUK?

”,thestudentswillreadthepassagefastandfindtheanswersdirectlyinthepassage.

Next,thestudentswillfirstlistentothetapewiththeirtextbooksclosed.Inordertomakethisstepefficient,theteacherwillprovidethemwithfivestatementsbasedonthepassage.Whilelistening,thestudentsshouldjudgewhetherthesestatementsaretrueorfalse.Ifitisfalse,thestudentsshouldcorrectit.
