10TuesdaymorningasuicidecarbomberdetonatedhisvehicleinthecapitalofKabul.Theattacktookplacearound300metersdownthisroad,infrontoftheoldking'spalace.DarulamanRoadisaroadthathasmanyministerialbuildingsandgovernmentbuildingsincludingtheparliament.TheTalibanhaveclaimedresponsibility,sayingthattheyhadavehicleladenwith750kilogramsofexplosivesthatdetonatedinfrontoffiveforeignvehicles.

ItlookslikeIrancouldbeheadedforsomepunishmentoveritsnuclearprogram.TheUnitedNationsSecurityCouncilhastheauthoritytodothat--toimposesanctions--totrytodiscourageIranfromdoingsomethingtheinternationalcommunitydoesn'twantittodo.SecretaryofStateHillaryClintonsaysseveralmembersoftheUNSecurityCouncilareonboardtopenalizeIran.We'renotsureyetwhatthepenaltywillbe.ButtheproblemfortheinternationalcommunityisIran'splantoenrichuranium.That'saprocessthatcanbeusedtomakenuclearweapons.Iraninsiststhat'snotwhatitwantstodo,thatit'sonlyfornuclearpower.Butthecountrywon'tallowinternationalinspectorstocheckuponthat.IftheUNapprovesthesanctions,thiswouldbethefourthtimethatIranhasbeenpunishedoveritsnuclearprogram.

Almostone-fifthoftheGulfofMexicoisnowclosed,asfarasfishingisconcerned.NOAA--theNationalOceanicandAtmosphericAdministration--madethisannouncementyesterday.AlongwiththeFoodandDrugAdministration,they'replanningtosampleseafoodtakenfromtheGulf,tofigureoutwhat'ssafetoeatandwhat'sbeencontaminatedbythis.ThesearesomeofthepicturesoftheoilsheenswirlingintheGulf.Governmentofficialsmayattempttostoptheoilspillthisweekendbycloggingitupwithasortofmanmademudoffluidsandchemicalsusedinoildrilling.Butthedamage,asyoucansee,hasbeen,andcontinuestobe,done.AndanewconcernisaboutwhereaGulfcurrentcouldcarrythisoil.OnTuesday,meteorologistJacquiJerasexplainedtoanotherCNNanchor,TonyHarris,howthatcouldhappen.

AndthenitbringsitbackupintotheGulfStream.We'vealltalkedabouttheGulfStream.Anditbringsitonupthecoastthere.

So,thisisacomputermodelforecastfromtheUniversityofSouthFlorida,andtheblackistheoilspillitself.Andsoit'sprojectingthatit'sgoingtobemovingdownhere,andthey'retellingusnowthatitcouldbefivedays,maybesixdaysawayfromhittingtheFloridaKeys,potentially.

Now,oneofthethingsthatweneedtokeepinmindaswelookatthesecomputermodelforecasts,thisisjustbasedonthecurrentsintheocean.Imagine,youknow,droppingthatbottle,right,thewaterinthebottleandwhatthatwoulddo.Butthisdoesn'ttakeintoaccountthingslikeevaporationofthatoil.Itdoesn'ttakeintoaccountthingslikethewind,whatthewindtrajectoriesaregoingtobedoing,andallofthosethingsinfluence.

So,Istillthinkit'salittlequestionablewhetherornotit'sgoingtogetthereandhowlongthatwillactuallytake,becausethiscurrentmovesonemaybetotwomilesperhour,soit'saslowmover.Andifitdoesspreadintothatloopcurrentandmakesitswaydownandaround,ofcourse,that'sgoingtobemorewidespreadandmoreofaproblem.ItwillbemorelikelytohittheFloridaKeys.
