Almostsevencenturiesago,inCentralAsia,therelivedagreatkingcalledTamerlane.Hewasamighty,powerful,conqueringsoldier,andhisgreatestambitionwasthatonedayhewouldruleamassiveempirestretchingfromtheAtlanticOceaninthewesttothePacificOceanintheeast.HemadehisimperialcapitalintheoasiscityofSamarkand,whichheplannedtomakethemostbeautifulcityonearth.Manymagnificentmosqueswerebuiltandtheyweredecoratedwithexquisiteblueceramictilesontheoutside,andwithpuregoldontheinside.
Tamerlane,likethegreatorientalkingthathewas,hadmanywives,includingaChinesegirlcalledBibiKhanym.NowBibiKhanymwasthemostbeautifulofallTamerlane'swives,andshewasalsotheyoungest.Shewashisfavoritewifeandwasdeeplyinlovewithhim.
