TheCivilWarwasbetweenthesouthernstatesthatwantedtoleavetheUnionandformtheirowncountry,andnorthernstatesthatwantedtoeepallthestatesasonecountry.Thesouthernstateswantedtoeepthelawsthatallowedthemtoownslaves.BoththenorthernstatesandPresidentLincolnwantedtogetridofthoselaws.OnApril9,1865,theCivilWarendedandallslavesweresetfree.

Lessthanaweelater,onApril14,1865,AbrahamLincolnwasshotattheFordTheaterinWashingtonD.C.Hediedthenetdayfromhiswounds.
