摘要

杰罗姆·大卫·塞林格的重要作品《麦田里的守望者》为一部关于叛逆少年走向成熟的成长小说，该作品也是对一代美国青少年努力寻求新价值观的见证，并一度在美国文学史上获得良好的赞誉。

故事主人公霍尔顿·考尔菲德是一个十六岁的少年，他代表了世界第二次大战后期美国青少年，某种程度他已经深深的影响了数代美国人。

通过对《麦田里的守望者》的细致阅读，本人最终发现了作品中主人公的独特性格造就了该小说的经久不衰。

本篇论文对主人公霍尔顿的复杂性格进行了分析并试图探究了他性格形成的多种原因。

除了绪论和结论部分外，本篇论文有两大章组成。

一章分析了霍尔顿·考尔菲德的性格，他热爱纯真而这种纯真只属于无暇天真的孩童就像他的弟弟和妹妹。

与此同时，他也喜爱反叛与矛盾，他在语言和美国梦两方面体现了反叛的特性。
