AccordingtoDahl,theGoldenYearsofChocolatewere1930-1937.In1930,RoaldDahlwas14yearsold.HewasastudentatRepton,afamousboys’boardingschoolinEngland.Itwasatoughenvironment:

thoseinauthorityweremoreinterestedincontrollingthaneducatingthestudents.

Ironically(讽刺地),itwasatthisdifficultperiodthatchocolatebecameDahl’spassion.NearReptonwasaCadburychocolatefactory.Everysooften,Cadburywouldsendeachschoolboyasampler(样品)boxofnewchocolatestotasteandgrade.Theywereusingthestudents---“thegreatestchocolatebarexpertsintheworldtotestouttheirnewinventions.
