 Hawkingwasdiagnosed(被诊断)withtheneurologicaldisorder55yearsagowhilestudyingatCambridgeUniversity.Herecalledhowhebecamedepressedandatfirstdidn’tseeapointinfinishinghisPhD.Buthecontinuedtodevotehimselftohisstudies.

 “Ifyouunderstandhowtheuniverseoperates,youcontrolitinaway,”hesaid.Famousforhisworkonblackholesandtheoriginsoftheuniverse,Hawkingwasalsowell-knownforbringingabstractphysicsconceptstothemassesthroughhisbest-sellingbooks.

Hawkingreceivedaround-the-clockcare,couldonlycommunicatebytwitchinghischeek,andreliedonacomputermountedtohiswheelchairtoconveyhisthoughtsinauniqueroboticmonotone.
