DEvidencenowexiststhatmostyoungchildren,ifgivenenoughopportunitiesandencouragement,areabletoachievesignificantandsustainablelevelsofacademicorsportingprowess.Brightorcreativechildrenareoftenphysicallyveryactiveatthesametime,andsomanyreceivemoreparentalattentionasaresult—almostbydefault—inordertoensuretheirsafety.Theymayalsotalkearlier,andthis,inturn,breedsparentalinterest.Thiscansometimescauseproblemswithothersiblingswhomayfeeljealouseventhoughtheythemselvesmaybebright.Theircreativetalentsmaybeundervaluedandsonevercometofruition.Twothemesseemtorunthroughfamouslycreativefamiliesasaresult.Thefirstisthattheparentswereabletoidentifythetalentsofeachchild,andnurtureandencouragetheseaccordinglybutinanevenhandedmanner.Individualdifferenceswereencouraged,andfriendlysiblingrivalrywasnotseenasparticularproblem.Ifthefatheris,say,afamousactor,thereisnounduepressureforhischildrentofollowhimontotheboards,butinsteadtheirchoseninterestsareencouraged.Thereneednotevenbyanyobvioustalentinsuchafamilysincetherealwaysneedstobesomeonewhosetsthefamilycareerinmotion,asinthecaseoftheSheenactingdynasty.
