故三军之事，莫亲于间，赏莫厚于间，事莫密于间。

善始者实繁，克终者盖寡。
Nowthereasontheenlightenedprinceandthewisegeneralconquertheenemywhenevertheymove,andtheirachievementssurpassthoseofordinarymen,isforeknowledge.
故明君贤将所以动而胜人，成功出于众者，先知也。

杂于利而务可信也。

不知文道武道，终不得胜利。
Oneshouldnotbeenviousofsomeonewhohasprosperedbyunjustdeeds.Norshouldhedisdainsomeonewhohasfallenwhileadheringtothepathofrighteousness.
因人之陋行而责其功，谬也；
因人之美行而赞其败，误也。
Justaswaterwillconformtotheshapeofthevesselthatcontainsit,sowillamanfollowthegoodandevilof**panions.
水之形，在其觥；
人之贤，在其朋。
Youwillnotbepunishedforyouranger,youwillbepunishedbyyouranger.
事临头三思为妙，怒上心忍让最高。

夫兵久而国利者，未之有也。

itwillfareillwiththee.
只知胜而不知败，必害其身。
Itisonlytheenlightenedrulerandthewisegeneralwhowillusethehighestintelligenceofthearmyforthepurposesofspying,andtherebytheyachievegreatresults.
故明君贤将，能以上智为间者，必成大功。
