AshappenedinFrance,Americanfrog-legfanciersandrestaurantsalsoturnedincreasinglytofrozenimports.Accordingtofigurescollectedfromgovernmentagencies,theUnitedStatesimportedmorethanmillionpoundsoffrozenfrogmeateachyearbetween1981and1984.

SomanyfrozenfroglegswereexportedfromIndiatoEuropeandtheUnitedStates.OneoftheattractionsofIndianfrogs,apartfromthefactthattheyhavebiggerlegsthanFrenchfrogs,wastheprice.InLondon,apoundoffrozenfrog'slegsfromIndiacostabout£,comparedwith£fortheFrenchvariety.
