Method
Pressure-State-Response(PSR)model
ThePSRmodelisbasedontheconceptofcausality:
humanactivitiesexertpressuresontheenvironmentandchangethequalityandquantityofnaturalresourceswhichleadtoresponsesinhumanbehavior.Threecategoriesofindicatorsaredistinguished.First,eco-environmentalpressureindicatorsdescribepressuresontheenvironmentbyhumanactivitiesandclimatechange.Second,eco-environmentalstateindicatorsdescribethestatusquoofthenaturalenvironmentandecosystemfunction.Thirdly,societalresponseindicatorsshowthedegreetowhichsocietyrespondstoeco-environmentalchangesandconcerns.Thiscouldbethenumberandkindofmeasurestaken,theeffortsofimplementingmeasures,ortheeffectivenessofthosemeasures.

2.4StandardizationofIndex
ThecontributiontoecologicalsecurityofeachindexofBeijingcitycanbedeterminedbyAHPmethod.However,thismethoddidnotallowustodirectlycompareindicesbecauseeachindexhaddifferentdimensions.Allindicesmustthusbestandardizedtoovercomeincompatibilitiesamongtheparameterswhenutilizingtheindices.Theevaluatingindicatorscanbedividedintothepositivetermtargetandthenegativetermtarget.Forsomeindicators,thebiggerthevalueis,themoresecurityitreflects.Forsomeotherindicators,thebiggerthevalueis,thelesssecurityitreflects.Therefore,themodeltakesthefollowingtwoforms.
