ResearchersfoundtheFKF1proteinwhentheywerestudyingaplantcalledArabidopsis（拟南芥）.Itissensitive（敏感的）tosunlight,andcanbemadeactivebysunlight.

Plantsproducethisproteineverydayinthelateafternoonallyear.Ifthereisnolightatthistime,forexampleinwinterwhenthesungoesdownearly,theproteinwon’tbeactive.Butwhenspringcomesandthedaysgetlonger,theFKF1proteincanbemadeactivebydaylightandtheplants“know”itistimetoflower.“Ifthereislightinthelateafternoon,plantswillknowthatthedaysaregettinglongerandthatitisthebesttimeforflowerstocomeout,”explainedTakatoImaizumi,leaderofstudy.Butwhenconditionsarepoorforgrowing,suchasduringautumnorwinterwhentheweatheriscoldanddaysareshort,plantswon’tflower.
