Inthetire/wheelenvironment,thermalshockcanbeexperiencedwhenavehiclehasrunforaperiodoftimeandthenisexposedtocoldwaterorice,orwhengoingfromagaragetooutsideinextremelycoldclimates.
TheDUTshallwithstandthe100thermalshockcyclesinairaccordingtotheprofileinFigure2.Thetemperatureextremesshouldbethosedeterminedinsection4.1.1.Thetimebetweentransitionsis30minutesandthetransitiontimebetweeneachtemperatureshallbelessthan2minutes.

4.1.4EXTREMETEMPERATURE
Therecouldbeisolatedconditionsinwhichthetemperaturewithinthetire/wheelenvironmentcanspikehigherthantheoperationaltemperaturesofsection4.1.1.Extremetemperatureisoneofthemainfactorsinprematurefailureinoneormorecomponents,e.g.lossofbatterylife.Itisrecommendedthatthistestbeperformedpriortothermalcycleandthermalshocktests.
