However,LuoYongzhangandhisteaminTsinghuaUniversity'sSchoolofLifeSciencesinBeijingseemedtohavecrackedthecode,afterworkingontheproblemsince2009.TheteamhasproducedanartificialHsp90αproteinforclinicalusethatgainsstructuralstabilitybyregroupingproteins.Thetestkitcandiagnosemultiplekindsofcancerbyanalyzingadropofhumanblood.Thismeanstheyareableto"create"theprotein,inanyquantity,andatanytimetheywishto.

Thekithassincebeenusedinclinicaltrialsinvolving2,347patientsateighthospitalsinChina.Itwasthefirstclinicaltrialintheworldtotestiftheproteincouldbeausefultumorbiomarkerforlungcancer,anditsucceeded.Now,thekithasbeenapprovedtoentertheChineseandEuropeanmarkets,24yearsafterHsp90αwasdiscovered.
