一、Introduction

1.Thereare3readingpassagesineachunit,thislessonisthefirstone,Asusual,itplaysaveryimportantroleinEnglishteachingofeachunitbecauseweshouldlayparticularemphasisonthestudents’readingabilityinseniorEnglishteaching.Bystudyingit,studentscanimprovetheirreadingabilitiesandlearnmoreaboutfirstaidanditstreatment,atthesametime,thestudentsshoulddosomelistening,speakingandwriting,too.

2.Inthisperiod,afterthewarmingup,studentswillfirstbeencouragedtotalkabouttheircomprehensionoffirstaidknowledge.ThentheywillbehelpedtoreadanarticleentitledFirstAidforBurns,tofindoutthedetailedfirstaidforburns,andsomereadingskillsaswell.

Thislessoncontainsactivitieswherelearnerscommunicateandwheretasksarecompletedbymeansofinteractionwithotherlearners.Thereisextensiveuseofpair,groupandminglingactivities,withtheemphasisoncompletingthetasksuccessfullythroughcommunicatingwithothers.

TheTask-basedApproach:

offerthestudentsopportunitiestodosomething—toacquireinformationandknowledge,toprocessinformationandtoapplyknowledgetosolveproblems.Inthislessontheteachercreateaneedtolearnanduselanguage.Studentsareassignedseveraltaskstocompleteinordertoachieveaspecificoutcome.

(2)Takingthestudentsasthehostandtheteachersubordinate,theteachershouldencourageandhelpthemtoread,thinkandfindoutinformationbythemselvesmosttime.Sincethemainobjectiveofreadingcourseistoimprovethestudents’readingability,theteachershouldtraintheirabilityofidentifyingthegeneralideainthefastreading.Inintensivereadingtheirabilityofinformation-gatheringandsummarizingisdeveloped.Thewholeclassisforstudentstodeveloptheirreadingskillsasscanning,information-gathering,andsummarizing.Studentswilldiscoversomereadingmethodsthroughindependentreading,discussingandcooperating.
