装载目标数据库

一、LoadingtheTargetWarehouseUsingProcessFlows

Toloaddataintothetargetdimensionsandcube,youneedtoexecutetheprocessflow.Theprocessflowautomaticallyinvokesthemappingstoloadthedimensionsandthecube.

Toexecutetheprocessflow,performthefollowingsteps:

FromtheToolsmenu,selectControlCenterManager.IntheControlCenterManagerconsole,expandWH_OWF_LOCATION,expandMY_PF_MODULE,andthenexpandPK.SelectLOAD_EXPENSE_WH.

Toexecuteaprocessflow,youcaneitherselectStartfromtheFilemenuorclicktheStart（

）buttononthetoolbar.

2.

WhenyouclicktheStartbutton,theControlCenterJobspanelswitchestotheExecutiontab.Youcanmonitortheexecutioninthispanel.Theexecutionsareperformedasynchronously,whichmeansthatyoucanclosetheControlCenterandOWBClientwhileyourProcessFloworMappingisbeingexecuted.

Toviewtheexecutiondetails,double-clickLOAD_EXPENSE_WHintheJobcolumnoftheControlCenterJobspanel（highlightedinthescreenshot）.

IntheLOAD_EXPENSE_WHdialogbox,clicktheExecutionResultstabandmonitorRowActivity.Youcangetacountofhowmanyrowswereinsertedinrespectivedimensionsandthecube.

FromtheFilemenuoftheLOAD_EXPENSE_WHdialogbox,selectClose.FromtheFilemenuoftheControlCenterManager,selectClosetoexit.

Onsuccessfulexecutionoftheprocessflow,allthedimensionsandthecubearenowloadedwithdata.

ViewingDataintheDataViewer

YoucanviewthedataloadedinthedimensionsandthecubefromwithintheOracleWarehouseBuilderdesignclientenvironmentbyusingtheDataViewer.

ToviewREL_TIMEdata,expandDimensionsunderEXPENSE_WH.Right-clickREL_TIMEandselectData.

NotethatthetimedataisbasedonthestandardCalendarhierarchyrangingfromtheyear2003forthreeyears,asyouhadselectedduringthedesignoftheREL_TIMEdimension.

Similarly,toviewREL_CATEGORYdata,right-clickREL_CATEGORYandselectData.

ToviewREL_EXPENSEcubedata,expandCubesunderEXPENSE_WHandright-clickREL_EXPENSE.SelectData.

二、ManagingMetadataUsingtheDependencyManager

OracleWarehouseBuilderprovidesagraphicalinterfacethatdisplayshowchangesinyoursourcesimpactthedesignmetadatainyourrepository.ThisgraphicalinterfaceistheDependencyManager.TheDependencyManagerenablesyoutodeterminetheimpactofthechangesmadetotheobjectdefinitionsorthemetadataintheWarehouseBuilderrepository.

Thesechangesmayoccurwhenyoureimportsourcemetadata,whenyoumakechangestothedefinitionsaccordingtoend-userorexternalrequirements,orifyourtargetsystemischanging.InallsuchcaseswhereachangehasbeenmadetothemetadatainyourWarehouseBuilderrepository,theDependencyManagerhelpsyouanalyzeandresolvetheimpactfromthechanges.

Forexample,intheEXPENSE_WHscenario,allthesourcedataiscomingfromthetwoflatfiles.Ifyouwanttoaddacolumntooneoftheflatfiles,youwouldwanttoknowwhatimpactithasonthedesignofallthewarehouseobjects.

Youperformimpactanalysisfortheexport_csvflatfile.

ExpandtheOWB_DEMOproject,andthenexpandtheFilesnode.ExpandSOURCEandright-clickEXPORT_CSV.Fromthemenu,selectImpact.

Note:

TheinteractiveimpactandlineageanalysisisavailableinEnterpriseETLoptionofOWB10gR2.

TheMetadataDependencyManageropens.TheDependencyManagerdisplaystheinitialstructuralimpactgraphfortheflatfile.Itdisplaysalltheobjectsthathaveastructuraldependencyontheexport_csvflatfileandare,therefore,impactedbythechange.

Fromthefirstviewofthedependencydiagram,youunderstandthatanychangeintheexport_csvfileimpactstheEXPENSE_DATAexternaltabledirectlyandalsoimpactstheREL_EXPENSEcubeindirectly.

The（+）signtotheleftofeachoperatorgivesthedependencydetailfromthelineageperspective.Itshowsthedetailsofalltheobjectsthattheobjectrelieson,whereasthe+signontherightoftheoperatorprovidesdetailsoftheobjectsthatwillbeimpactedasaresultofchange.

Forexample,ifyouclickthe+signtotheleftoftheREL_EXPENSEcubeoperatorinthegraph,yougetanexpandedgraph.

ThegraphdepictsthattheREL_EXPENSEcubeisgettinginputsfromtheREL_CATEGORYandREL_TIMEdimensionsandalsofromtheREL_EXPENSEtable.

Themappingsymbol（the

icondenotescollapsedmappingpiece）alsodepictsthattheREL_EXPENSEcubeisassociatedwiththeEXPENSE_DATAexternaltablethroughamapping.

Double-clickthe

icon（collapsedmappingpiece）betweentheEXPENSE_DATAexternaltableandtheREL_EXPENSEcubetoviewthemapping.

ThecollapsedmappingpieceexpandsintoREL_EXPENSE_MAPmapping,whichshowsthedataflowbetweentheEXPENSE_DATAexternaltableandtheREL_EXPENSEcube.

ThemappingdepictsthatthedatafromtheEXPENSE_DATAexternaltableisbeingprocessedbyanexpressionoperatorandloadedintotheREL_EXPENSEcube.

4.

Tofindoutexactlywhichattributesarebeingprocessedbytheexpressionoperator,youcandrilldowntoattributelevelimpactanalysis.

Forattributes-levelanalysis,double-clicktheexpressionoperator.Double-clickEXPENSE_DATAandREL_EXPENSEinsidethemappingboxtoviewtheinputandtheoutputattributes.

Thescreenshotshowsaportionofthedependencydiagram.

FromtheAnalysismenu,selectClosetoexittheDependencyManager.

Therefore,thedependencydiagramenabledyoutoeasilytraceandanalyzetheimpactandlineageofasourceflatfileintheEXPENSE_WHscenario.

三、AdministeringtheWarehouseUsingtheRepositoryBrowser

YoucanuseOracleWarehouseBuilderRepositoryBrowser,anHTML-basedinterface,toviewandgeneratereportsonallrepositorymetadataobjectsandtherelationshipsbetweenthoseobjects.

YoucanusetheRepositoryBrowserasastand-alonecomponent.Ifyouwantremoteaccesstotherepositorymetadataobjects,youcanusethePortalversion—theversionofWarehouseBuilderRepositoryBrowserthatisintegratedwithOracleApplicationServer.

Afteradatawarehouseisfunctional,itneedstobeadministeredandthatinvolvestaskssuchasmonitoringthedetailsofthedeploymentandexecutionjobs.OthertasksincludeexaminingtheeffectofmetadatachangesthroughImpactandLineageanalysisandmonitoringtheexecutionschedulesofthemappingsfordatarefreshinthetargetwarehouse.

YounowgetanoverviewofvariousreportsthatyoucanviewintheRepositoryBrowser.

Tostartthestand-aloneversionoftheRepositoryBrowser,youneedtofirststarttheOWBBrowserListener.

TostarttheOWBBrowserListener,fromyourDesktop,selectStart>Programs>{yourOracle-OWB10gR2clientHome}>WarehouseBuilder>Administration>StartOWBBrowserListener.Acommandwindowappears.

Amessagereading"...OracleApplicationServerContainersforJ2EE10g（9.0.4.0.0）initialized"appearsinthewindow,asshowninthescreenshot.Now,youarereadytologintotheunifiedrepositoryandviewtherepositorymetadata.

YouonlyneedtorunoneinstanceofOWBBrowserListenerinyourenterprise.Then,anyonewiththelogincredentialsandaWebbrowsercanaccessOWBRepositoryReports,withouttheneedtohaveOWBClientinstalled.

Donotclosethewindow;minimizeit.

TostarttheRepositoryBrowser,fromyourdesktop,selectStart>Programs>{yourOracle-OWB10gR2clientHome}>WarehouseBuilder>RepositoryBrowser.

IntheNavigator,youcannavigatetoyourprojectsintheUnifiedRepositoryandexplorethedetailsoftheobjectsinsidetheproject.Therep_ownerrepositoryisshowninthetable（highlightedinthescreenshotbyaredrectangle）.

Expandrep_owner,andthenexpandOWB_DEMO.Youwillgetaviewofallthemodules.ExpandEXPENSE_WHandyougetalistingofalltheobjectscontainedinthemodule.

Youcandrilldownfurtherbyexpandingeachoftheobjectnodes.ExpandEXPENSE_CATEGORIES.Thecolumnsoftheexternaltableareshown.

IfyouwanttobrowseControlCenterreports,youdonotneedtoaccesstheloginpageagain.

ToswitchovertoControlCenterReports,scrolldownonthesamepageandclickControlCenter:

ReportsintheRelatedLinkssectionatthebottomofthepage,asshowninthescreenshot.

Thefollowingscreenappears.

Ifyouwanttoknowthecurrentdeploymentstatusofalltheobjects,clicktheObjectSummaryReportlink（highlightedinthescreenshot）intheDeploymentsectionoftheReportspage.

IntheObjectSummaryReport,youseeusefuldeploymentdetailsofeachobject.Forexample,yougettoknowthatREL_EXPENSEcubewasdeployedtoEXPENSE_WH_LOCATIONon31stDecember2005at6.28p.m.andthattheobjectstatusisvalid.

Youcandrilldownfurtherintodeploymentdetailsbyclickinganyofthelinks.

ScrolluponthesamepageandclickExecutionSummaryintheAvailableReportssectionattheupper-rightcorner,highlightedinthescreens
