HumanitiesPh.D.stypicallysecurenon-academicjobsthroughtheirownnetworks,withoutthesupportoftheirdepartments.ForthosePh.D.swhoultimatelyfindworkoutsideacademia,thejob-huntingprocessisoftenlongerandharderthanitneedstobe.Fewuniversitiesofferhumanitiesdoctoralcandidatescareercounselingfornon-academicjobs,whichwouldhelpthemmarketthemselvesandleveragealumninetworks.
