“Mymainadviceistobeconfidentduringthereadingtest.IrealisedthatIanswermorequestionscorrectlywhenI’mconfident.Thisisbecausetheanswersareverysimilarandifyouaredoubtful,youtendtokeepmakingchangesandmessitallup.

Forthelistening,IpractisedbylisteningtoEnglishsongsonmymp3dailyandtryingtounderstandeverysingleworduntilIcansingthewholesong.ItreallyhelpedinmylisteningtestasIwasabletoputtogetherwordsandalsorepeatthewords/sentencesinmyheadaftertheywereplayed.”

Ahmedsaid:

“Practiceallot.Readarticlesandbooks,andwhenyoudon’tknowthemeaningofaworduseEnglish-Englishdictionary.ListentodifferentsourcesofEnglishaudio–TV,radio,ortheInternet.Whenyoulistentosongs,radionews,etc,trytorepeatwhattheysayandimitatetheiraccent.Readthequestionsinthelisteningpart,sothatyouprepareyourmindtocollecttheansweronceyouhearit.Andaboveallrelax,andtrytoenjoytheexam.”

Sumitsaid:

“ImustsayyouhaveawonderfulwebsiteforIELTS.

IdidnotpreparemuchforIELTS,buttookafewpracticetestsafewweeksapartandmonitoredhowIwasprogressing.Ilistenedtoafewgoodspeakingtestrecordingsandreadessaysthathadlowandhighscores,whichhelpedmefigureoutthedifference.Spellingisimportant.IshouldacknowledgemyEnglishteachersatschoolwhowereveryparticularaboutspellingandIinheritedthosequalities.
