Shewasforcedbythegossipsandthechurchtoblameherselfforthisaccident,soshethoughtshedeservednothinggood.Inordertogetridofthepastshedecidedtogotoadistantdairyfarmbutwasstillsayingtoherselfthatshewaswrong.MaybeGoddidn’tagreewiththat,becausetheLordgavehersomeoneshelovedwithherwholeheartandlife—AngelChare.Angelpoppedthequestiontoherbutsherefusedhimwithoutsayingwhy.Shesaidshelovedhimdeeplyandperhapsnooneintheworldcouldlovehimmorethanshedidbutshecouldnotmarryhimforsomeunspokenreason.Angelwasn’tsatisfiedwiththisvagueansweranddidhisbesttowinTess.Somehowsheagreedandtheysoonfixedtheweddingday.SoonaftertheirweddingAngelconfessedthecrimehecommittedtoawomanlongtimeagoandaskedforTess’sforgiveness.TesswasnotatallangryandforgaveAngelatonce;infactshewasratherhappyandexcitedforshealsohadthingstoconfess.
ShesatandtoldeverythingtoAngel,hopinghewouldforgiveherashewasforgivenbutshewaswrong.Shewasnotforgiven,notasshethoughtshewas.Thewomanpays.
