Hello,I'mSevernSuzukispeakingfor-TheEnvironmentalChildren'sOrganisation.
Weareagroupoftwelveandthirteen-year-oldsfromCanadatryingtomakeadifference:
VanessaSuttie,MorganGeisler,MichelleQuiggandme.Weraisedallthemoneyourselvestocomesixthousandmilestotellyouadultsyoumustchangeyourways.Comingheretoday,Ihavenohiddenagenda.Iamfightingformyfuture.
VanessaSuttie,MorganGeisler,MichelleQuigg
Losingmyfutureisnotlikelosinganelectionorafewpointsonthestockmarket.Iamheretospeakforallgenerationstocome.
Iamheretospeakonbehalfofthestarvingchildrenaroundtheworldwhosecriesgounheard.
Iamheretospeakforthecountlessanimalsdyingacrossthisplanetbecausetheyhavenowherelefttogo.Wecannotaffordtobenotheard.
Iamafraidtogooutinthesunnowbecauseoftheholesintheozone.IamafraidtobreathetheairbecauseIdon'tknowwhatchemicalsareinit.
IusedtogofishinginVancouverwithmydaduntiljustafewyearsagowefoundthefishfullofcancers.Andnowwehearaboutanimalsandplantsgoingextincteveryday--vanishingforever.
Inmylife,Ihavedreamtofseeingthegreatherdsofwildanimals,junglesandrainforestsfullofbirdsandbutterfilies,butnowIwonderiftheywillevenexistformychildrentosee.
Didyouhavetoworryabouttheselittlethingswhenyouweremyage
Allthisishappeningbeforeoureyesandyetweactasifwehaveallthetimewewantandallthesolutions.I'monlyachildandIdon'thaveallthesolutions,butIwantyoutorealize,neitherdoyou!
Youdon'tknowhowtofixtheholesinourozonelayer.Youdon'tknowhowtobringsalmonbackupadeadstream.Youdon'tknowhowtobringbackananimalnowyoucan'tbringbackforeststhatoncegrewwherethereisnowdesert.Ifyoudon'tknowhowtofixit,pleasestopbreakingit!
Here,youmaybedelegatesofyourgovernments,businesspeople,organisers,reportersorpoiticians-butreallyyouaremothersandfathers,brothersandsister,auntsanduncles-andallofyouaresomebody'schild.
I'monlyachildyetIknowweareallpartofafamily,fivebillionstrong,infact,30millionspeciesstrongandweallsharethesameair,waterandsoil--bordersandgovernmentswillneverchangethat.
I'monlyachildyetIknowweareallinthistogetherandshouldactasonesingleworldtowardsonesinglegoal.
Inmyanger,Iamnotblind,andinmyfear,IamnotafraidtotelltheworldhowIfeel.
Inmycountry,wemakesomuchwaste,webuyandthrowaway,buyandthrowaway,andyetnortherncountrieswillnotsharewiththeneedy.Evenwhenwehavemorethanenough,weareafraidtolosesomeofourwealth,afraidtoshare.
InCanada,welivetheprivilegedlife,withplentyoffood,waterandshelter--wehavewatches,bicycles,computersandtelevisionsets.

"IwishIwasrichandifIwere,Iwouldgiveallthestreetchildrenfood,clothes,medicine,shelterandloveandaffection."
Ifachildonthestreetwhohasnothing,iswillingtoshare,whyarewewhohaveeverytingstillsogreedy
