Universitycourseslayaverysolidacademicfoundationforthefuturedevelopmentofcollegestudents.Facingthegreatselectionsofthesecourses,somepeoplesaythat,basicscienceshouldbemadecompulsoryforcollegestudents,forthereasonthattheycouldbemorefamiliarwiththeadvancementandevolutionofhumansociety.Idisagree.Ibelieve,despiteminormerits,askingstudentofallmajorstoattendbasicscienceclasseswouldcauseproblems.
Tobeginwith,sciencecourseswouldputmoreacademicpressureonstudents.Collegestudentshavealreadyhadtostudymanytheoryandprofessionalsubjectsrelatedtotheirmajorsandtheirscheduleisverytight.Forexample,amedicalstudentisnotonlyobligedtofinishhisprofessionalpapersforcredit,buthealsoneedstofindtheopportunitytogetclinicalexperience.Hisloadissoheavythathecouldnotaffordtotakeanyirrelevantcourses,suchasbasicscience.Inthiscase,schoolsshouldnotaddthiscourse,becausestudentswouldworrywhethertheycouldfinishtheirhomeworkontimeandhowtheywouldpassfinalexaminations.

Admittedly,takingbasicsciencecoursesdoeshaveitsmerits.Asasubjectaimingtoexplainhowtheuniverseexits,basicsciencebroadenstudent'srangeofknowledgeandenhancetheiranalyticalskills.Studentscouldgainadeepunderstandingabouttheworldtheylivein.Lotsofmethodstosolveproblemswillbegainedthroughbasicscience.However,thisknowledgecouldbeacquiredbyothermethodotherthanrequiredcourses.TVdocumentariesandbooksareallavailableoptionsforstudenttolearnbasicscience.
Inconclusion,althoughtherearesomesmallbenefitstorequiringbasicsciencecourses,makingeverycollegestudentattendsuchclasseswouldoverburdenthestudentsbothacademicallyandfinancially.
