Earthquakescanalsobreakupgasandoilpipes.Thiscancausefirestobreakout,whichcandoasmuchdamageastheearthquakeitself.Anothereffectofearthquakesistsunamis.Thesearehugewavescreatedbyearthquakesbeneaththesea.Theycanbemanymetreshighandcausegreatdamagetocoastaltownsandcities.China,Japan,RussiaandtheUSAhavethehighestoccurrence(发生)ofearthquakesintheworld.
