Whatistruefriendship?
Nowadays,thewordfriendshiphasbeenusedsofrequentlythatithaslostitsmeaning.Somejokinglyorseriouslyputitthatfriendsaremadetobetakenadvantageof,whichmakesmeverysad.Truefriendshipdoesn'tmeanthatwhenyouneedyourfriend'shelp,youwilltreathimtodinner,andwhenyouhavetoprotectyourself,youwillputyourfriendsinadifficultsituation.Onthecontrary,truefriendshipisthemunicationoftheheartsandunderstandingofthesouls.
Truefriendshipislikewater,whichistastelessbutisessential(最基本的)toourbodyparedwithdecent(相当好的)wine,waterisinsipid(无味道的)intaste,butisofgreathelptosatisfyourthirst.Truefriendsdon'tneedtobewitheachothereveryday,butareconnectedinhearteveryminutewhateverthedistanceis.
Truefriendshipislikemedicine,thoughtastedbitter,killingyourillness.Truefriendsgiveyousomeproposalsinpointeveniftheyknowyouwouldnottake.Theycriticizeyouwhenothersarepraisingyou,notbecauseofenvybutworryingthatyoumayloseyourcoolhead.
Truefriendshiphasnothingtodowithfame,power,orpossessions.Truefriendswouldoftenwatchsilentlyfromafarwhenyouareinfluential,butetoyouwheneveryouneedtheirhelp.Theycarenotwhat
youare,butwhoyouare.You'renothissteppingstonetosuccess,butarehiscrutch(拐杖,支持)tolivethroughdifficulties.Whenyouarehappy,youarelikelytoforgethim,butwhenyouareintrouble,heisthefirstoneyouwillturntoforhelp.
Truefriendsmakeyouplete.Manypersonspanyyouthroughyourlifecourse,yourparents,yourlover,andyourchildren,whotakecareofyouandmakeyourlifehappy.However,youstillneedsomeonewhounderstandsyourthoughtsandsouls.Withoutthem,youarelikelytofeeldesertedinspiritandloseyourself.
